ABIDJAN — July 20, 2026. Côte d’Ivoire has once again demonstrated its scientific excellence on the global stage. At the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Shanghai, the country earned a historic bronze medal thanks to Kouiamedo Kédié Ange Modeste, a student from the Alassane Ouattara High School of Excellence in Grand-Bassam.

Already crowned champion at the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) in Yamoussoukro, the young Ivorian prodigy confirmed his outstanding talent by competing against the brightest students from more than 100 countries.

This remarkable achievement marks Côte d’Ivoire’s first-ever bronze medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad, coming 16 years after the country’s historic silver medal. It is a resounding success that highlights the strength of Côte d’Ivoire’s scientific education system and fills the entire nation with pride.
